Food page

Poverty is the worst form of violence-Mahatma Gandhi
This page is about the food of the world. As you saw on the FrontPage, this project is based on the book If The World Were A Village by David J. Smith. In this book, the world is reduced to a village of 100 people, with one person equal to 64 million people. This is done to make numbers easier to comprehend, and make percentages easier to understand. Therefore, with so many people in the real world, compared to the Global Village, the numbers have to be rounded, to make them work in the Global Village. In this Wiki, we aim to go over and above the data in the book.
50% of the people in the Global Village are sometimes or always hungry.
30% of the people in the Global Village have enough to eat.
20% of the people in the Global Village are severely undernourished.
If all of the food was divided equally everyone in the village would have enough to eat!
Poverty leads to hunger. Some examples are because some people don't have good nutrition, safe water, cleanliness, and health care. The only reason for no access to these resources are because the resources are not evenly distributed. Currently, if food was passed out evenly to the world, there would be enough to feed everyone with some left over. in the 1990s, more than half of undernourished children lived in places with extra food. In the real world, nearly 800 million people do not have enough to eat.
These are the people who may have a greater risk of getting malnutrition.
- Infants and children who do not get the right type or amount of calories and nutrients.
- Older adults.
- People who are taking medicines that decrease appetite or affect the digestion and absorption of nutrients.
- People who abuse drugs or alcohol.
- People with eating disorders.
- People with certain diseases such as cystic fibrosis, celiac disease, liver disease, kidney disease and cancer.
- People with a low income who have trouble buying the right kind of food.
- Pregnant women.

- In Africa there are the least Dietary Energy Supplies. They are mainly in the central part and some are in the east.
-
-
Types of food in different places

- Eating in Asia is often based on traditions
- The tradition includes a lot of rice

Western Europe
- Fish is BIG in Western Europe
- In warmer areas they feature fruits, and veggies
- In colder climates they feature more meat, cheese, and bread

Notice that this graph is about the animals that are part of the food supply of the Global Village. Not all of these animals are used as food. Some could be used to carry things. As the graph shows, there are 250 chickens. Sheep and goats come on second place.

cool over all. the animations are effective and catch one's eye. However, the graph could be a little less poppy. The font should be more consistent.

Daniel, Walter not being available is no excuse. Your name is on this page as well. You had a lot to do today and I don't see much effort here....

You guys really need to look at your commas. You have commas in different places in lists. Try and be consistent.
Also, you should move the map down lower.

Please spellcheck. Also don't take screenshots of text. And finally use clear, easy to read fonts.

For once Coal is right. Weird. 'Cept that Coal was only commenting on the fluffy stuff, and not the content. And Coal spelled his name wrong. Onto another topic, Shelby is sooo right, you peeplz need to re-arrange your text, so that it flows more.

I like this page! Maybe some pictures would make it better. Maybe even a couple of recipes! That would make it fantastic! As usual, you need to spell and grammar check.

I think this page is excellent except that the title for your dollars spent in a week list should be separated from the previous text and should be in bold face.

I like your but I think that it should be more about hunger then what different people eat. I like the graph about which countries are the hungry and least hungry. If you could find some more things like that and write a blurb about them it would make your page great. Good luck!

Actually the quote by Ghandi seems evident to me: We tend to think of violence as having to do with weapons, killing and hurting others. Ghandi is saying that being poor, and having to spend your days looking for food (or more horrible, watching your children starve) is a form of violence as well, in fact, the worst kind. Especially, since there is enough food in the world for every one to have enough.

We promise we aren't being sarcastic - your page is really great. We feel sentimental about how consistent your font and font size is. This probably doesn't matter very much, but we don't exactly like how you highlighted them. You could probably just bold them. We like the map a lot, but we can't read the font very well. Also, your spacing could do with a teensy bit of work. We really like the rest, especially the 'Types of Food in Different Places'. We also love the graphs and pictures.
